McFarland GTX 8'6" 7wt

The Bait Shop has partnered with Bluewater Rod Company in Florence, AL to bring you a set of three custom high performance fiberglass fly rods. A few years ago I bought a GTX from Chuck Rayburn, and the amount of care and grace he put into this rod blew my mind. I love it so much that I wanted to make them available to you.

These rods are built with performance in mind. We start with a fiberglass blank hand rolled by non other than Mike McFarland. After we receive the blanks, we spend hours testing different guide spacings and layouts. We then add Lemke Aluminum reel seats, Snake Brand guides, and custom turned cork grip. Each rod is truly a custom rod designed to give you years of fish catching enjoyment from an heirloom quality piece that can be handed down over the years.”

These rods perform best with a line in the 200-230 grain range. Choose your taper based on your presentation, short taper for turning over heavy flies, long taper for delicate presentations. Even though these rods are 7wt, fine tuning your line for best performance requires checking the grain weight.

Comes with stickers and a rod sock. Rod tube not included, but if you need one let me know and I can find one for you.
